Palm Springs Girls' Tourney Results
From Last Weekend--(June 21, 1999)

We got a short note from Randy Small, the boys' BB coach at Palm Springs HS, with the results of  the Girls Tourney at Palm Springs HS this past weekend. Randy notes that "Yes, it was quite pleasant for a change in the gym this year," and we assume that he's referring to the air-conditioning, because he can't possibly be referring to the outside temperature which was 110 degrees.   He also reminds us that there's a 16 team boys tourney this coming weekend, not that we needed any reminding, because we'll post up the full schedule for that one shortly too.

This past weekend, Troy HS took the championship game, led by MVP Veronica Johns-Richards with 17 points, beating Corona Centennial by the score of 47-41. Centennial was  led by Michelle Strawberry with 17 points. Troy was able to withstand a fast start by Centennial, who led the game by 10 points early on.

We don't have all the scores, just the winners' bracket, and we're not quite sure we really understand the way this bracketing must have looked because if the scores below are for the winners' bracket, the we don't know how Harvard-Westlake could have finished 5th and not 9th or 11th since they don't appear anywhere in the winners' bracket scores.  Oh, well, here's what Randy sent us anyway.

Winners' Bracket:

Ayala 66 Torrance 32
