Pepperdine Signs Mike Hausmann--(May 7, 1999)

La Jolla The Bishop's School player, Mike Hausmann (6'-6" Sr. F) has signed a letter of intent and will attend Pepperdine next year.  But before all you Waves basketball fans get too excited, Mike's letter is not for basketball, but for water polo.  Mike was a three-time All-County first-team player in water polo and a first-team member of this winter's All-County basketball team for the Bishop's School, yesterday signed a letter of intent to attend Pepperdine University. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Hausmann was a three-time All-American in water polo. He helped lead Valhalla to titles in his first two years, then was instrumental in lifting Bishop's to the crown in 1997 before having his bid for four straight titles stopped by Coronado this year. Hausmann had also been considered a potential Division I basketball player, but his best offers came from water polo.  Mike is probably good enough to walk on to the basketball team as well, so it may not be the last we've seen of him on the hardwood.
