Signs Letter Of Intent--(May 17, 1999)

This one actually occurred last week, and was made public on May 12, 1999 in a press release issued by Cal State Northridge, wherein it was announced that the Matadors had signed Whitney White (6'-5" So. SF) from Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois.  The Chicago native becomes the fourth player to sign this season.   He's an athletic slashing three man, who can shoot out on the wing and rebounds very effectively. Here's the press release from last week (which is also available at the CSUN Official Athletic website):

Whitney White Signs National Letter of Intent
(CS NORTHRIGE—MAY 12, 1999) Matador head men's basketball coach Bobby Braswell announced today the signing of Whitney White to a National Letter of Intent with Cal State Northridge. White, a 6-5, 195 pound small forward out of Chicago, IL is transferring from Lincoln College in Lincoln IL. He is the third player at Lincoln College to sign this season with a NCAA Division I school (Marcus Griffin, Illinois and Trenell Hemphill, Florida A&M). This is Braswell's fourth signee of his third full recruiting class and he has now signed 16 players since taking the reigns of the Matadors men's basketball program. White joins guards Marco McCain (Cerritos, CA), Craig Calloway (Compton, CA) and guard/forward Lionel Benjamin (Long Beach, CA) for the 1999-2000 season.

Whitney is an athletic three man who will give us much needed depth at small forward. He Is an outstanding rebounder and defender. He is a slasher who will excel in our system. We are excited about the new dimension Whitney will bring to our program. —Bobby Braswell
