Dixie College 1998 Las Vegas
JUCO Invitational--(Jan 2, 1999)

Ok, so if this tournament is still going on today, why is it called the "1998 Las Vegas JC Invitational?"  We don't know. But we do know that the consolation and Championship games of this tournament will take place today at Durango High School.  The tournament attracts lots of college coaches, and features some of the top JC players in the country, including one of last year's top high school players, Corey Hightower (6'-8" Fr. F) who played for Mount Zion at the 1997-98 Reebok Las Vegas Holiday Prep Classic, who now attends Indian Hills Community College, ranted No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Poll in December.  Other top players include Vance Lawhorn (6'-7" Fr. F) from Las Vegas, who is playing for Dixie College, David Redmond (6'-7" Fr. F) from  Los Angeles, who is playing for Howard College, Reggie Batee (6'-3" Fr. G) from Upland, California who is playing for North Idaho Collge, Lamar Lawrence (6'-6" Fr. SG/SF) from La Puente, California who is on the South Plains Collge roster along with Chris Roberts (6'-7" Fr. F) from LaMesa, and many others.

Dixie College, St. George,  Utah (No. 6, NJCAA Dec. Poll)
Howard College, Big Spring, Texas
Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, Iowa (No. 1, NJCAA Dec. Poll)
Lassen Community College, Susanville, Califrornia
North Idaho College, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
South Plains College,  Levelland, Texas
Three Rivers Community College. Poplar Bluff, Missouri
Utah Valley State College, Orem,  Utah (No. 4, NJCAA Dec. Poll)

Today marks the final day of the tournament.  The Championship game is set for 6:00 p.m. at Durango High School, while the Consolation is set for 2:00 p.m. today.  If you're in Vegas you might want to check out some great hoops action featuring some of the top JC players in the country.
